New gadget for the galley

I recently purchased a spoon rest, which surprises me to say out loud. But, this spoon rest is pretty cool. Itís made from heat-resistant silicone-like material and it has a built in suction cup on the bottom.

You can actually stick it on the lid of the pan youíre cooking in. I like this because it saves counter space. The other nice feature is that it doesnít move when the boat heels or rocks.

Finally, because everything on a boat should have more than one function, you can use it to help open jars.

I have no affiliation with the company, I just
wanted to share a cool gadget.

Wouldn't a generic square of silicon potholder do as well?

There is a size of the generic plastic food containers I use for leftovers that wedges into a corner I use for that.

I do like the suction cup idea for rough seas, but can't see too much involved cooking getting done then anyway.

The suction cup is great for unexpected wake in the anchorage. Or, when weíre heeled over for multiple days and really want a hot meal.

Having had a monumental spoon flight situation to cleanup one time, I just stick them in the bottom of the sink. At anchor, I use a small wasabi dish....it has to have a 2nd use. ;-).

I always thought people went cruising to at least try to lessen their consumerism.

Three of them on a counter would keep something in place anywhere, one of them could keep a container of any size wedged into a corner against a fiddle. Easy to clean, too. I don't know about holding a spoon on a pot lid, overhanging handle might get pretty hot, at least on my stove.

Haven't been to a boat show lately, I'm guessing?

A spoon rest? Are you one of those poor folks boating, who can't afford a proper full time sea cook to keep stirring the pot and HOLDING the spoon?

Have you tried GoFundMe to take care of that problem?

I like the concept of that product. I'm just curious on the dependability of the suction.

Itís been completely dependable for me. In fact, I use it most often just as a handle for the pot lid. My pot lid handles get hot and the SpoonBuddy stays cool.
