Our books have gotten 5 star reviews on Amazon. Several readers have written "I never thought I would go on a circumnavigation, but when I read these books, I was right there in the cockpit with Vinni and Carsten"

Re: My favourite 'toastie' is......

This IS a fast moving thread; now back to toasties...
I say round is fine for the connoisseur especially when at anchor but square gets my vote in a force 9 gusting to heavens knows what and shipping green water into the cockpit.

The one below jams something & cheese into the said square jaffle iron, works it one-handed over the heat and tosses it topside to the other who doffs his/her sou'wester to protect the heart-warming meal or else stuffs it into the cargo pocket of the foulie to enjoyed later after attending to the reefing!

Those welsh miners eating their pasties in the bottom of the pits were just schoolboys compared to the real sailor living on half soggy jaffles at 4 am battling to find the light off the Cape in mid winter...

Although I can't claim the above experience, a nice B Bean & cheese (with some tabasco) jaffle at sunrise is a pleasant way to start the day mid ocean in lower lats.

Re: My favourite 'toastie' is......

This is ONE thing that should NEVER go into a toastie and that is tinned spaghetti in tomato/cheese sauce.

Perhaps this goes without saying as the aforementioned item has no place in any ship's stores - not even as emergency rations. They do make for good emergency rations in one sense however, as they never be eaten until cannibalism options has been exhausted.

"dog"... intentionally reversed????

I agree that the REAL JI is round but I repeat, the twin square guy is far more useful to use in a cold lumpy sea especially when far from the purveyors of the tank loaf.

Why don't police solve murders in Tassie - there are no dental records and all the DNA is the same.

When I finally get to sail round Oz I will drop in to Sydney and we can share existential angst.

While eating SQUARE jaffles.

Uncle Bob,

If you ever drop down to Tassie (my new abode), I'll do you up a ROUND jaffle with Ham BBs and an accompaniment of your choice

I dunno. I mean that's a really good offer and tassie is right there at the top of my wish list but I am really worried that I will undermine any chance of becoming a true blue water cruiser if I start cutting the crusts off

Re: My favourite 'toastie' is......

Real blue water cruisers would just cut 'em off and not give a monkey's cuss what some Aussie thinks about 'em.

Ooops. That should be Taswegian. They don't like being called Aussies. Sorry.

Coops.

Matey, the round ones are only on offer to Uncle Bob; you get a square one 'cause I don't give a tinker's toss about your feelings and you get to keep your potential aspirations to be a TBWC - so-called win / win situation. You of course, can have the ham BBs just like Uncle Bob.

As for Coops, he just gets the aforesaid monkey's cuss unless he brings some of his more exotic fillings and boutique beers with him; then I might consider breaking out the JI and share some more Tassie jokes - I'm sure he has a bagful...
