LCHF Diet Aboard?

Since there is a thread for other diets, I'd like
to know how people keep LCHF while cruising.

Especially so if you do not have refrigeration,
but only an icebox.

The area I'm interested in is the Pacific Northwest.

My guess,

LC = Low Carbohydrate but HF? High Fat, High Fiber?

Pretty sure it is low carb, high fat i.e. Paleo diet Some options for no fridge: Coconut oil Maple syrup and honey Dried meats like salami, jerky Sourkraut, kim chee and other fermented or pickled veges Canned or dehydrated vegetables Tequilla

There are many dried fish type snacks colleages bring from Asia that would be nice if you don't catch fish
Some cheese require no fridge if you eat dairy

And those are good suggestions.

We drink bulletproof tea and eat lots
of eggs, too.

Things that wouldn't keep in an ice-
box in West PB probably will keep
better in the PNW.

How long can you keep eggs unrefridgerated?

Nothing fresh lasts long here.

I'm under the impression that eggs
can be kept (if cool) a few weeks, as long
as they are turned over every couple
of days. Something about keeping yolks
from coming in contact with the shell.

Also read that coating them with
grease or wax, they'll keep longer. Keeps
out oxygen.

I have kept them in an icebox
for about a week after hard boiling.

Mine is low carb. Its easy on a boat but not as easy as on land with a good freezer and fridge.

The difficulty is fresh vegeteables in out of the way places. Theres not much. The 3rd world lives on starch root veges, rice, corn, yams, taro, etc

Any canned meat is now full of fillers, potato and rice, US labeling laws are a joke and are used wherever in the world they can because the Euorpean/Australian etc lable laws make it obvious whats inside the can.

In a good port its fine. Any particular diet is fine... but not off the beaten track.

What is bulletproof tea? I really like green tea with matcha but it doesn't replace my morning cup of coffee.

Love hard boiled eggs and they last a little longer that way.

I am not opposed to eating whatever local food or starches are available since that seems part of the fun to me. Mostly try to avoid a lot of processed grains and sugars.

Eggs will keep for months if sourced directly from the farm and the shells sealed with varnish/vaseline/what have you. We used up the last of our eggs after six months in the tropics. They weren't great for frying sunny side up but made decent omelets at the end.
