At the risk of sounding/tasting like an old rumsoaked blanket, My delivery crews all know that there was a '0' tolerance policy on non-prescription drugs of any kind. If found, they and their **** were off the boat, even if we were miles from nowhere. Unless at anchor with a clear weather report, I ran a dry boat. You just never knew when you might need to call on off watch crew for help with something. In port, the drinks were on me, either aboard or ashore. Many of the same crew stayed with me for several years. There is a time to party and a time to work... cheers, Capt Phil

For me... no drinking underway, get ripped in port if you want, no drugs on the boat.

We raced a Heritage One-Ton for 16 years on Lake Erie. We transferred anything we could from the boat before every race, including sails not needed. The cooler of beer was way too heavy to consider leaving it aboard. We figured that about 2/3 of the boats in any given race would not be a factor after the second mark as witts and reactions slowed. Agree on drinking at the dock at least for the driver(s). I have no interest in compromising our CG credentials or insurance elegibility. CG had a "Sober Skipper" program in Cleveland. Sticker on the boat helped keep the CG, Aux, Sheriff,and harbor cops from spot inspections and other harassment. Every one of the above except (CG-Good Guys!) tried on several occasions to pull over racers while racing for random inspecton. Yup, I'm going to drop the kite in the east channel and hove to while life jackets in use by the crew are counted and compared to the the number of crew wearing them. At the time, the most common reason for a pull-over was documented vessels not displaying the Ohio OH-Number. Sheriff and city cops never got this one. I digress-sorry.

Try a Gin & Tonic or Rum & Coke with a squeeze of Calamondin. Calamondin is the tiny "miniature orange" you find in season in south Florida. Changes the character of the drink altogether. They keep frozen like a sack of marbles. Calamondin - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia The Wiki says you could expect to find them in the Phillipines and other places too.

just thought id mention OPP{canada cops} brought in new laws and now prosecute boating as same as impaired driving on land,,also can seize boat,,just an open beer can is 250$ fine so beware coming into marinas from michigan as snitches on the reward plan are all over{crime stoppers R.A.I.D. program}REPORT AN IMPAIRED Driver,,,which pays informers for successful convictions,,many fisherman now sink the bottles inthe lake befors returning to docks landings etc, to avoid open container fines,,cheers

How does that work if you are anchored not at a dock?

usually at anchor , one comes to folks with similar idealogies. wanting to get away from the idiota in marinas. that includes snitches, severe patriots, and other such critters. if ye dont like the new neighbors, MOVE. cannot do that in mooring field or marinas.
