How ways can you cook spam?
I'm just curious as to how ways can you cook spam?
Fry it, bake it, eat it straight from the can.
My favorite is mixing spam in your rice as you cook it.
Also I love spam with mayonnaise......

Re: How ways can you cook spam?
My Son used to call it "lips and ********" but we used to dice it up and mix it with relish for sandwiches and topping for toast. Fried with eggs and potatoes was always OK.

Ah! Spam. I heard it as eyebrows, ears and arseholes. A video on it for your delectation.
Coops.

Re: How ways can you cook spam?
That was an interesting "Mother Jones" article and merely confirms my belief that the best way to use spam is as fish bait.

In the western Pacific, the old boys say Spam stands for
Solid-protein-approximating-man
Closest thing to long-pig you can get since they quit letting you have a friend for dinner.

Re: How ways can you cook spam?
I had a really good fried rice dish in which the Spam was diced into tiny little cubes, like 5mm, and the veggies were diced quite fine also. It was a very pretty dish and the texture was good too. You never knew it was Spam unless told

Re: How ways can you cook spam?
On long passages Spam and similar does have to find its way onto the boat.
I find by cooking it very well helps. If I am using it in another dish I mash it and brow it very well in a frying pan before adding to another dish.

Guam and the Islands near by consume more Spam per capita than any other place 0n earth, introduced by the US Gov after WWII it has become the "staple" and is a contributor to the highest diabetes per capita rate in the world for Chomoros(Guam folks)....For a fast snak, they eat Sushi rolls made from spam and rice ,avocado, cucumber and crispy seaweed wrap..They also consume more Tabasco than any other place on earth ..

Re: How ways can you cook spam?
When in Hawaii I have the occasional Spam breakfast. I think it tastes good. Here's something I've seen, but not tried:

Re: How ways can you cook spam?
A favorite is using it in place of much more expensive ham steak in split pea soup (peas, onions, spam cubes, salt, pepper). Great in the winter!

+1. Celery, onions, hardboiled eggs, and whatever else seems appropriate at the time. I usually use brown rice and throw in some hot pepper flakes with soy sauce as desired.
