How do you make toast?
Um, serious question.
Toasted breadstuffs are a crucial part of our diet
I tried holding bread over the burner on the stove, that just set off the smoke detector. We tried doing it in a pan, less than successful.
Do I need to run a toaster off an inverter?
My bagels need to know!

Re: How do you make toast?
We keep a 2 slice toaster aboard. A toaster oven would also do the job, depending on what fits best into your galley plan (and what other cooking devices you already have).

Re: How do you make toast?
Use a heat diffuser. You can get them at some kitchen supply stores, camping stores, and places like eBay. They should have a lightweight tin side that goes towards the flame and a perforated side towards the toast.
You can also use a pan with some sort of wire rack in it so the toast doesn't touch the pan.

Re: How do you make toast?
I use a small toaster oven, off the inverter, also allows reheating small amounts quickly.

No need to run inverter if you have a gas or alcohol stove.
This is the best toaster ever. I have one like this that I boat in France while I was working there to fix the 2000 year bug that never happened
I sold the boat, but kept the toaster

Re: How do you make toast?
An electric toaster works for me. Actually, I would just grill the bread in a pan but my wife bought a toaster for the boat so that's what we use now.
It's kind of a shame to take up that much space for a single use appliance, but who here argues with their wife, especially after the fact?

We've had one of these for many, many years. It works on a grill or any stove burner.

Re: How do you make toast?
This is our baby. I've tried a number of other diffuser types mentioned below. This one works the best in my experience.
An electric toaster on our boat is a non-starter, and really not needed.

Re: How do you make toast?
We use an 8 year old red Walmart toaster that cost $8. Flick on the inverter and away she goes.

Re: How do you make toast?
Normally with one of those camp stove attachments like others have shown, but this weekend I had to improvise with a heat gun: https://fb.watch/57VQQWjvZM/

Re: How do you make toast?
I just put the bagel or bread in a frying pan with no oil and watch it...

Re: How do you make toast?
+1 on the Coghlan Camp Stove Toaster had mine for about 15 years
Base plate rusts but the arms don't if they don't interlock bend them back.

Re: How do you make toast?
I have one of those, they don't work very well. Bought a low wattage toaster that I can run off my inverter instead.

Re: How do you make toast?
In the UK most camping stores and many chandlers sell a tinplate triangular toaster the sits over the gas burner and toasts two pieces of bread or bagels at the same time.
Cost is very low.
