Same with supermarket fruit as well on this side of the pond. Too hard to eat when first bought it quickly ripens and spoils.

Thankfully we have a really good fruit and veg market in our door step (150 yards away in the town square) so Saturdays are spent purchasing what they have which is mainly local seasonal produce. Whilst its no cheaper the quality and taste is just sooo much better.

Something you could try is going to the local farmer's market and ask the various venders if for a fee, they'd deliver to your boat before or after the market. I think there's a good chance one would - get their phone number so you can phone order in the future.

If your requirement is delivery to the boat you will have to do the best you can with commercial services like Peapod in the US. In some places like the Grenadines locals will deliver to the boat but the quality is not what you will see in a US farmer's market or even a supermarket.

Re: How Can I Get Fresh Fruit and Tomatoes Delivered to the Boat ?

you did not say where you are??
in bahamas - forget it
in mexico - a few fresh markets on isla mujeras - but you have to shop around and go into some dark corners for the best buys
in puerto morales - stay away from the stuff near the water - take the bus about 2 miles inland to the little town there and the veggies there are fresh, plentiful, and cheap
in belize - try some of the local markets on the mainland - usually pretty good quality - but you need to search - not a lot in placenica
in quatemala - wow - it does not get any better - fresh veggies of unlimited quality and quantity everywhere and very cheap -
in roatan - there is a giant super market that has some good stuff - but not great -
in panama - depends on where you are - bocas - if you get there when the truck arrives it is good - in portobelo the store stuff is not so hot but there are trucks that drive thru so you have to be patient and get in early to catch one of the veggie trucks
in the san blas - not a lot of luck on some veggies but we heard there was a veggie boat that makes the rounds but we never saw it
in colombia - cartagena - the local grocery is a block away and very good - really good and cheap veggies is in the central market but a taxi away and not the nicest we have been to -
so where are you?
as for boat delivery - in the san blas and here in cartagena if you are in a marina

i was answering th e next thing we know i would be taking my own baths-- and i sed the above....
now i add....
but i always take my own baths.
but we were talking abou tbringing tomnatoes and fresh yumms to the boat without having rotten and bruised fruit. delivered.
i have seen delivery services in some of the marine environs in mexico- you would need to arrange in the marina f or information-- all is able to be provided for a fee. hiring someone to do this is easier than you want to know , but ye have to watch who and where you hire.
