Hot Stove

We have a Force 10 LPG 3 burner stove with oven. It is original from 1997. We have noticed that the front panel above the stove door gets very hot to the touch when we use the oven. So hot that it burns. This has been happening since we purchased the boat in 2010.

I called Force 10 and they said it could be that the insulation has broken down over time. They could not tell me what they used to insulate or where to buy new insulation. They said they would find out and call me back but that was over a week ago.

Can anyone share any insight here? Could it be the insulation or have others experienced this?

We have a newer Force 10 and the stove door does get hot. It gets hot to the touch where you can touch it for a few seconds but if you leave your hand on it, it will burn.

Re: Hot stove

Tim, even on a home oven, if hot air is escaping at the top of the oven door, it will get especially hot there. I'd take a good look at the gasket behind the door while you're looking for problems. But in general...yes, ovens do get hot enough to cook flesh, that's partly by design. I suppose you could open up the door if it comes apart, there's probably something like rock wool or fiberglass batting in there if they insulated it.

Re: Hot stove

The door is not that bad. The really hot part is the panel just above the door where all the control knobs are. There is no seal on the oven door and that is correct according to Force Ten.
