Force 10 Burner Issue

One of my Force 10 burners has stopped lighting with the sparker. The thing has gas and lights great using a flame lighter. The spark is working well and I can see it and it looks the same as the others (I changed the battery just in case). I've cleaned the cover and checked all the holes and nothing looks wrong.

Any ideas?

Hmm that makes no sense. If you see the spark from the igniter, and it lights and stays lit with a lighter or match.

One issue with F10 stoves is valves and the knobs...sometimes they won't stay lit when you stop pushing in the knob and the fix is to pull the knob out a bit on the valve spindle.

Re: Force 10 Burner Issue

Is the spark grounding on the burner in the correct spot? Also check for a plugged orifice on the burner in that spot.

Re: Force 10 Burner Issue

Ok now heres a bit of a stretch but have you reciently removed the cover cap off the burner base to clean it? If so when you put it back on it may not have been set with the correct clock position . Had that issue with newer force ten on the spencer. The cap has a cast spot that goes around the igniter if not just right may cause spark to ground wrong and not ignite the burner.

Yes but somewhere along the line Force 10 caught onto this problem now there is only one way to it the cap on.

One thing I've been considering it that the cap is somehow warped. But it seems such a long shot

Re: Force 10 Burner Issue

I fixed it! I know what I did, but I don't know what I did to fix it.

I sanded the inside of the burner and along the edge that the cap goes onto to. I also sanded the edges of the cap and then soaked it in some rust remover to clean up more. I vacuumed all the fine dust out of the burner. After that everything looked pretty much the same as before as I had cleaned the damn thing numerous times over the past 2 months trying to get it to work, but now it does!

The spark takes the path of least resistance. The spark is happening before it gets to the burner. Make sure there is no short or break in the wire and look for premature spark

Re: Force 10 Burner Issue

This will sound strange but take the knob off and stuff bits of aluminium foil inside the sleeve that goes over the knob stem.
Bought a new Force10 last year and one by one the burners would not stay lighted. After several frustrating discussions some one at force 10 explained the tinfoil trick. Seems they had some bad knobs but won't admit it. How you get away with that on a premium priced product like Force 10 is amazing.
They had several explanations mostly involving magical think but refused to provide new knobs.
Great stove; much improved over the older Force 10's I have had but would probably not buy one again.

With very fine sand paper give the heat sensor, that little spike, a clean up. If it is not reading properly it will keep switching off

Re: Force 10 Burner Issue

Hunter & Beneteau did a special deal with force 10 to save a few $ by putting steel covers on the burners that eventually rust and start to fall apart. I just had to replace mine with new stainless steel ones that improved the flame heaps
