Any one see these before, or better yet tried one. Seems like a decent price. Doesn't make much, and a little gimicky but could be a good way to kill a half hour.

I don't have this one but I have one that is similar. Like a soccer ball. It works great! But you really have to keep it moving for at least 30 mins and that makes it the consistency of soft serve ice cream

Idea has been around for a while. Jury rig an ice cream maker if you have two lidded containers (e.g. coffee cans with plastic lids), one large (like #10) and one small (like #303). Put ice cream mix in the small one, put it in the big one, surround it with ice and salt and roll it around.

I have one of these icecream makers back home, but no reason one couldn't be used on board if you have a moderate sized freezer:

The inner cannister is frozen. It is put in the plastic container and the rim sealed. Ingredients are poured in. You manually turn a handle which rotates a paddle and scrapes down any semi frozen bits on the side. This needs to be done about once a minute for about 20 min. It is quicker if the ingredients are super cold to start with.

This makes a softish icecream. Freeze the cannister for an hour or two for a firmer result.

It produces beautifully smooth icecream without any icy particles .

I have used the ice cream maker for my Kitchen Aid mixer. Very easy and makes good quality especially using mexican vanilla.
This one intrigued me because mixing happens just by towing and would make a nice treat for the kids during a day out on the boat.
And I dont have a freezer
