Allowable food into Nassau

My husband and I have a bareboat charter starting October 18 that is now going out of Nassau. Due to the expense of purchasing on the island not to mention the unknown availability of products after Dorian we would like to bring down our food in a cooler like we do when we go to the BVI‘s. I found the attached document on the Bahamas government page but cannot really decipher the intent, do they mean we can bring in any fresh food as long as it’s not rotten? What do they mean by unfit for human consumption? Raw or spoiled?

We sailed into Nassau to check-in with Customs, Agriculture, Immigration. They took a look at our food and checked a box on their form.

I flew into Georgetown, Exuma from Miami and had some food and boat parts. As recommended, I had all receipts for the items. I had to fill out some forms. but there was no duty as they were not for resale. My understanding is that this is a judgement call on behalf of the agent. Bring receipts just in case.

Juice is dutiable. Beef, ham and turkey are not. It also mentions somewhere (can’t find it now) that imported meat should be frozen or canned.
