12v blender

My fiance and I are looking at bringing some kids into this crazy world of ours, and she said that if she has to use the manual blender to make baby food that she'll throw me in the drink.

So...

Any solid leads on a good 12v blender?

I do know they make gas operated models.

I have a friend who had a 3hp margarita maker - used an old outboard...

I have been eyeballing the one at the top of this list but don't have first hand knowledge. Coleman generally get price/value right.

Haven't seen the stainless one in stores, though.

48oz geezzz that could be dangerous on my little boat with only two people!!!!

I looked for a mid sized DC unit and gave up due to cost and size and just picked up an AC unit which I run off an inverter.. only cost about $20. and was 18 oz... a safe quantity for two

You always pay a premium for 12v versions of what are normally AC appliances. When she starts demanding a hair dryer, coffee maker, microwave, etc., that expensive inverter starts to make sense.

At McDuff's bar on Norman Cay they had a blender powered by a Toro weedwhacker motor - but there were no sleeping babies within a 1/4 mi. of it.

Yeah, but they aren't shy with the tequila at McDuff's. Have they ever reopened? I was last there 3 years ago, and someone else was buying the place.

Actually, we just fire up the generator. Even at $4.50 a gallon, it takes a LONG time to make up for the cost of 12v appliances!

I haven't been there in 7 years. I heard someone bought the place and was putting up condos. Hope they kept the bar and didn't change a thing. It was definitely a cruisers bar - nice view of the wrecked drug plane sticking out of the water. How cool is that?

Drug plane? Some old fresh vegetable shuttle craft from Puerto Rico that fell off the runway when the brakes failed. Cruising destination? no. Charter destination ? Yes! Fun? You bet!

For a kid at least. Ours is now two and eats everything we eat (big help there!) Blenders are for crushing ice and making mixed drinks. Babies do better on sliced and mashed rather than blended. Mostly because blending can leave small but hard chunks. We bought a little hand held food musher from babies R us. Cost about $20. It will 'blend' peas into a nice mush and separate the skins, cooked corn too. Most anything we ate (meat included) could go through the thing with a minimum of preparation.

Your partner sounds like she would like to do the healthy thing and feed the kid right. Baby food taste like.... well... bland, colored, blah.....

There are a lot of cool things out there for kids now. Head to Babies R us, Make a list and pass it on to the grandparents to be. You won't be lacking.

Diaper Genie - double yes!

48 oz blender? Why drink 12 oz of fruity blended rum drinks when 48 oz will do?

I just did a Google search under "12 volt blender" and came up with some pretty decent ones.

For baby food try a hand "Ricer" which can be found in any kitchen store, Good for veggies that have been cooked a bit.

Let me bump this thread, since there has to be many people in the past 8 years who only have 12V or small inverters that can't handle a 'real' blender but want to make frozen cocktails, smoothies, etc.

The only thing I have seen is this:
