Windvane on a Cat

Can you use a windvane on a cat? I don't remember ever seeing it done.

Yes you can. But, I think they can cause problems on light weight boats that responsed quickly to wind speed changes. As the boat speed changes quickly the apparrent wind direction changes causing the wind vane to respond. This can cause the boat shift around alot and go into irons or other issues. This is also supposed to be a problem on performance monohulls.

I am sure someone else has a better understanding and could explain it better.
