The Hokule'a Circumnavigation

Hokule'a, the Polynesian Voyaging Society's catamaran, reached Key West 3/23/16 on it's way around the world.
Hokule'a is a traditionally designed and built catamaran, and is sailed without modern navigational instruments, "modern" meaning everything from a GPS to a sextant or compass.

She is currently at Everglades City as part of the Society's goal to interact with the indigenous peoples of the world, in this case the Seminole tribe of South Florida.
Next stop? Ft. Myers.
Hokule'a is scheduled to arrive in New York City 6/8/16 for World Oceans Day, and will be part of the Hawaiian Airlines Liberty Challenge. I believe she will be at Charleston, S.C. for Charleston Race Week but I could not verify that.

HOKULE'A SCHEDULE FOR EAST COAST MAINLAND USA

Hokule'a was in Ft. Myers, Fl. as of 3/26/16, and scheduled to cross Florida via the Okeechobee Waterway. I assume the crew will get plenty of practice paddling lol.

4/4-4/8 Cape Canaveral, Fl.
4/14 Charleston, S.C.
4/23 Newport News, Va.
5/9 Tangier Island, Va.
5/15 Old Town Alexandria, Va.
5/18-5/22 Washington D.C.
6/15-6/18 New York, N.Y.
Late June/July - New England area

The schedule of any sailing vessel is, of course, subject to change depending on the natural environment.

Re: The Hokule'a Circumnavigation

I noticed they canceled their European portion of their scheduled voyage. I'm wondering why? Anyone out there in the know?
