Stuck under Bridge Seattle

Anybody know whether he lost power and drifted down in the current or if he thought he could fit?

The rescue seems rather unsophisticated, but on the other hand I'm guessing something like one boat pulling on a halyard while another trying to position the boat to line up the mast to allow it to slide out seems fairly likely to fail.

There is current from the dam by the locks pushing the boat under the bridge.

Today 7/27/14 Seattle

What a shame. Here's how it is supposed to be done.

Hiyah, Such a shame, careful who you pass your tow line to. If they had pulled it the other way, at least they may not have ripped the stick out of her. I have dragged a few sailboats off as needed, usually some discretion on the throttle and pull from the masthead....."slowly"
Anecdotal, but I am ranting about salvage experts! I saw a bigtime operation lift a sunken megayacht faster than the water was removed. Ended up crushing the hull with the thousands of pounds of water still inside. Just pass it on to the insurance companies.

Been a few years but that looks like the seaward entrance to Lake Union locks and that is a busy railway bridge.

Could be they had a train coming

Re: Stuck under Bridge Seattle

That poor boat. There are a lot of boats on Lake Union that sit with messed up masts.
