My dad did that once. Years ago in his
Gulfstar 43'
Trawler, Intrepid.
He was in Mystic, Connecticut at the time, so as the
hurricane made its way up the
East Coast, went up the Mystic River as far as he could, and dodged around a small penninsula which afforded a measure of protection. He didn't
anchor, just ran the engines and manoeuvred the boat as the storm came through.
He loved that boat! So much so, the day after he was killed in a car
accident, we got a call from the marina: the boat had sunk.
