Cool Re: Solo Nonstop Circuimnavigation

I think we can cross France off the list, although Moitessier was born in Saigon, technically. The Open Critic » Book Review » Bernard Moitessier’s, The Long Way: Four Decades Later, is a link to a book review of The Long Way. An interesting read, imo, that takes a look at the fallout of these epic endeavors.

Also, don't forget the guy in what I called the Home Depot boat that fell apart right off the bat. What was it, something like a $10K boat. Wasn't relly worth remembering.

There r still plenty of countries around the med other than france, and most of them have no circumnavigators. Besides my family name is shared by several countries in the region.

You can also cross israel of the list cz they have a guy do it way back then but not nonstop, and he crossed land. That is I believe eliminates 2 countries.

This is not an investigation or anything of this sort. I will let you all know where im from when things are official.
In the mean time I will appreciate that issue stays away from being dealt with in here.

I promise that it is not going to last as much time as it took president obama to get his birth cirtificate.

I'm not one to promote thread drift but --what's that? Sure, I'll have another beer. But ... I knew an adventurer in Galveston by the name of Roland who put his forty-six foot Wharram together with polyester resin as glue and screwed everything together by hammering the screws in. He felt a) polyester was as good yet cheaper than WEST epoxy, and b) that the threads on screws were to get them out with, if needed. Trust me, I'm not clever enough to make this stuff up. Last I heard it broke up in the GOM on the way to Isla Mujeres on basically the maiden voyage. I seriously doubt Roland had an EPIRB but I heard he was rescued anyway. Let's all hope Roland hasn't reproduced but think of the time and money wasted. Some folks aren't teachable.

MarkJ, I'll bite: What is "SNCTSBATOCF"?

Solo non circ to sail behind a truck on Cruisers Forum?

As the OP has asked us nicely not to discuss his country of origin, I'm wondering if a simple poll would be offensive?

Gotta be a hot, sandy place. Inquiring mind wants to know.

Don't let the naysayers discourage you man! Everything starts with a dream. I'm sure that you didn't need to be told to learn as much as you can.

I stopped listening to the soul suckers because I have a similar plan and would be quite discouraged if I allowed them to get in my head. Keep dreaming, planning, and studying. You CAN do it!

I had never been on a boat before the day I happened upon a blog about people cruising around the world on a sailboat. After a week of reading and studying, I realized that I too could do this. One year later I (Last fall) I bought my boat, this spring moved aboard full time, next year Bahamas, the year after that I'm going around.

Do I have a clue? Not really, but I'm collecting clues and when I get enough of em, I'm leaving. Don't listen to the ones who enjoy soul sucking under the guise of constructive criticism. I'll wave to ya as we cross each other on our circumnavigation. Eric

Do you remember the guy who asked for us to give him a boat? LOL Did someone flip him a 50 footer?
The raft guy who wanted to circ the UK and didn't understand tides. He stopped posting after the Titanic II was rescued.
The McGreggor 26 must have circumnavigated by now.
Sundry 14 footers, etc.
The woman in the Flika 20 who after the biggest send-off inthe world lasted one night! Then tried to sell the tub for $100,000
Don't forget the fellow who wanted to trade his '68 Honda Civic for a boat he could circumnavigate on, and wanted our opinion on whether a $3,000 cruising kitty would get him around the world.

Solo Nonstop Circ that started by a thread on Cruisers Forum.

I'm not talking about Richard here, but we've had some interesting ones. Normally we give good quality help.

Yes, Bash, that was a great one
