yes I am making an assumption. My thought process: If it was a mechanical issue, the humans involved(captain and pilot) would have wanted that information to leak out. And it would have leaked.
Personally I hope that it was some mechanical fault that explained why a 117K gt ship plowed into the bays finest mud, and not the fact that two professionals
lost their bearing...
However, the lack of any information or even speculation that there might have been a mechanical issue leads me to believe that everyone who was in charge has shut their mouth and are letting the lawyers earn their $$$.
