Sevenstar from Marmaris to Victoria BC

Dear Cruisers Forum,

We are moving our boat via Sevenstar from Marmaris at the end of April 2014 headed to Victoria BC. Anyone have experience with Sevenstar or better yet, moving their boat out of Marmaris this April?

Hello forum. Our boat is now safe and sound in Canonsport Marina in West Palm Beach awaiting the next ship to take her to Victoria BC. I was curious if any of you on the forum happen to be moving your boat to Victoria with Sevenstar also? Just wanted to chat.

Hello again forum. Our boat is still stuck in West Palm Beach and she will be there hopefully just two more months. Pretty frustrating as we were expecting our boat's arrival in June. The new schedule that Sevenstar is proposing means that she will not arrive until August when we are out of the country for two weeks. A total bummer for us.

We are now looking for a delivery skipper to meet the Sevenstar ship in Victoria BC early August. Please contact me if you can help.

Wow, that sounds like a story that needs to be told. Why was your boat dropped in FL rather then BC?

Several of our friends in Phuket had booked with Seven Stars to ship their boats to Greece. They were told to have their boats ready to be loaded by early March but the freighter they had chartered didn't show up until April. Boat owners were upset with the delay. However, a subsequent sailing in May was on time.

One friend of ours had booked with Peters and May but when they, too, we're going to be late, they offered refunds to affected boat owners. So many people accepted the refunds that Peters and May canceled the pick-up in Phuket altogether, leaving those who hadn't accepted the refund stranded.

Not that exciting. The plan was always to pick her up in Marmaris, drop her off in Florida, and wait for a ship going west. It just has taken longer than usual for the westbound vessel to be arranged.

Okay. I had assumed (yeah, I know) that it had been booked straight through. Still a PITA.

That's a normal situation to drop and then reload in West Palm. It happens in other areas too as there's often not enough demand for a non stop trip. Unfortunately schedules move too although SevenStar and DWT don't move nearly as much as others have. I have friends who do a lot of unloading and loading with SevenStar in West Palm. The Palm Beach to Victoria trip also has three stops on the way-Golfito, LaPaz, and Ensenada. They will off load some boats and add some others along the way. Victoria is an excellent port.

Just wanted to give an update. Our boat safely arrived with Sevenstar from Marmaris, Turkey to Victoria BC in August. We are now cruising around the San Juan Islands before the weather changes. The boat did not suffer any major damage, so we are pretty happy. We are sitting in the Rosario Marina right now, in fact!

Hello - any recommendations on best preparing boat for shipment with Sevenstar? You mentioned, "the boat did not suffer any major damage.." Did your boat suffer minor damage? If so what? Any advice or information you have would be appreciated. David planning transport with Sevenstar from Eemshaven to Baltimore US.

Remove all sails.. if possible remove and stow the boom.. centre and lock your wheel/tiller prior to the lift. Drain water and holding tanks..
Stay with the boat till she's on the ship and the holding frames welded and lashing are all in place.. better you see it all being done and photo's to prove all was well when you left.. to compare when she arrives.
That being said.. my experience with Sevenstar was favourable.
Whilst the guys who do the 'Grunt Work' are Fillipino's etc of varying abilities they are supervised/assisted by very experienced ships officers.
