Sailboat in the surf near San Francisco

Looks like a real nice 82 foot sailboat with three people on board ended up in the surfline near San Francisco. I shake my head and wonder how this happened:

Ouch, that could get very expensive very quickly. Fell asleep at the wheel perhaps?

That boat's slip is just up the fairway from mine. Oyster 82, cutter rigged with hydlaulic in-boom furling. Carbon Mast. Thrusters. The owner never takes her out without a professional skipper and two additional crew. His usual skipper is a woman, and the TV reported just now that the captain is a man, so I'm wondering whether this is a delivery crew.

The TV news reported her in 4 feet of water, but I doubt it. That boat draws 14'.

FFS how far did they think they would get in a 82ft Oyster? like you could just hide it somewhere in a small marina

News people can be realy funny-"The boat's 10 foot keel made maneuvering in the 4 foot deep water extremely difficult." Well, Duh!

In this case more like 'learn to swim and GTF away before the CG shows up..'
