Re: Prepping for Irma, dropping the RF jib

If it were me, I wouldn't waste much time or worry about being discreet. Getting it off the furler is not that big of a chore. You are in a bit of a spot because you are likely going to have to ride out any storm where you sit without extensive preparation. You may want to ensure the stands are chained together across from each other under the boat and then tie them all together with an extra warp. The boat will be vibrating. Attempt to get some extra stands if you can. Remove everything and anything to reduce windage. Consider removing the depth sounder transducer to stop the boat from flooding should you lose a hatch or washboard.

If you do not get it removed Irma will take care of it in short order for you. Not really optional or anything the yard has a say on.

Plan B. Early morning also works.

Its a good rule. Docksailing on the hard is a good way to do something stupid. But if there is no wind you should be fine.

Be ready on the halyard when you unfurl it...pull the sail out then let the sheets fly, and drop the halyard quick. Have everything ready before you start. A couple extra hands wouldn't hurt either.
