Maybe they should lock the anchor. With a really big padlock and an even bigger chain.

Another oldie but still kinda funny. Dumbass filming it and no ones yelling look out, turn, or anything. I don't care who's right or wrong, both captains are idiots.

Re: Passenger Drops Cruise Ship Anchor Underway

I like the keelhauling punishment. I've been on two ships that lost anchors at sea. One truly was an accident. It simply broke loose while we were upside down. Seriously. The second one was the captains fault. He was coming in to gitmo harbor full steam emergency flank bell on till within a mile of the pier. Needless to say a single screw destroyer tender was not meant for that speed or to stop in a hurry once there. Both boilers were sucked offline and about a half mile from the pier he dropped both the bow and stern anchor trying to stop the ship at 10 knots. We lost the bow anchor and the pier stopped us. I can't make this up. It was all over a chief that a onboard doc said was having a heart attack. He started farting terribly when we hit the pier and miraculously recovered. The captain had some splainin to do.

Re: Passenger Drops Cruise Ship Anchor Underway

Keelhauler's was our mascot name for sports at CMA. We are the only school that has a form of punishment as our mascot.

You'd think they would have a way to prevent any old tom, dick or harry from dropping the hook!
