Many variations.
Basically, a loop of
Dyneema, often threaded through webbing for padding, is placed on the bottom, and other lines are luggage tagged to it. It can be at the
dock end or the
boat end.A separate line can then be looped over the cleat or hitched to the cleat without
interference, since the
Dyneema loop takes very little space.
More or larger
cleats are better, but sometimes you get what you get. I do this on the
boat end where I need two lines but the
cleats are too small. A contributing factor is often an oddball
mooring situation, not uncommon for multihulls.
