I will be graduating college next year and I'm very curious about the sailing lifestyle. It's been a dream of mine to one day own/live on a
boat and sail. I grew up in the midwest so I've barely sailed beyond my Dad's 14 footer and a little Sunfish, neither of which I've done in years. As soon as i get home for the summer I'll be out on that
boat learning the simple things again.
the question is: How can i get hands on
learning ona larger boat, so that one day I may be able to own and operate my own? I've looked up numerous courses/schools which don't seem all that expensive, but classroom and weekend learning don't seem the best way. Are there crews I could jump on board with? Or veteran sailors our there looking for some young bucks to climb aboard their craft for a summer or longer?
Or if any of you could relate how YOU learned, that would also be very helpful.
Thanks, I'm all ears.
