If the hawse hole with horns is of stout fabrication and one is using proper size of line a simple cleat hitch works well and I have never had one lock up tight such that it was difficult to unhitch.
They induce much less chafe than having a line pass through a hawse hole to a separate
deck mounted hardpoint tie off, i.e. a bollard or cleat and they keep the
deck clear of taught lines / tripping hazards. Elegant all in one devices.
