I have some free beginner ASA books. If you're taking an ASA class, these will most likely be included in your class. If you aren't taking the class but are interested in getting into sailing, let me know and I'll send them your way. Hell, if you ARE taking the classes and this will save you some coin, let me know and I'll send them your way.

I'm on a motorcycle forum where they have a "Pay it Forward" thread. Lots of free stuff pops up there. I'm sure this happens here on the sailing forum, but probably real time in the marinas.
