Layover in Hilton head, then keep pointing south!!

Let us know when you get here - Sundowners on us!!
HH is our summer "base", where we hope to do some day sailing, weekends, maybe unserious racing, and of course, lots of work. I need to get some stuff done before November because we'll be heading south and hope to spend the winter in/near Key W and/or Bahamas.

Projects include:
-probably new water pump">raw water pump
-IRAN the heat exchanger tube bundle
-replace chartplotters at helm and nav station, at least one opencpn
-solar on the davits
-possible reconfigure the davits, don't like them
-redesign and install new dodger, bimini and side curtains
-cutlass bearing
-replace prop (I assume a hunk cannot be rewelded)
-replace a couple through hulls
-bottom paint w/the good stuff
-new speakers and lights in cockpit
-new larger inverter
-remove the giant bose 5.1 surround sound system w/sub woofer (really?!?!)
-do the preventative/regular maintenance on everything, winches, windlass, genny, engine everything! (so I know it's done right and when it was done)
-some reconfiguration to make single-handing easier
-repair deck flood light
-ais transceiver
-additional vhf at helm
-repair bow roller so I can deploy 2 anchors off bow if needed

Probably other stuff as it comes up.....

As far as boat lists go... thats prettify short (of course, they only get longer not shorter)!

Highly recommend going further than Key West and (at least) to the Bahamas.
You just made this leap so you could cruise; might as well go see things you couldn't by car... though, a warning thats where we started and at some point simply decided never to turn around.

Keep your calendar open.
If all goes well weeks in the Bahamas turn into months pretty easily!

Unfortunately I'm not yet retired. Although after 5 weeks on my new boat I'm sooooooooo ready. While fully WFx right now, I expect I'll start traveling again in the fall. While I can justify flights from KEYW, flights from outside the US might be harder to get past the bean counters lol
