Re: Couple who sank off FL got a new boat

Good for them. Aint nothing wrong with making mistakes, though it's more fulfilling to work for the boat as opposed to having one given to you. And ain't it grand to live in a place where you're allowed to try, fail and try again without some heavy hand blocking your way?

The fact they hired a salvager to remove their first boat and aren't leaving a mess in their wake is all I really need to know.

It is indeed great to have an opportunity to overcome. I am sure that no one here every made a mistake and got away with it!

It's an interesting website. There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason why one request gets a lot of money and another one doesn't.

Haters are still gonna hate no matter how much goodwill and tolerance you project towards them. The interesting part in all of this is that thru the GFM site, it demonstrated the large number of kind souls there still are in this world, which vastly outnumbered the haters. I am happy that this couple are back on the water in a better boat.

I think most people see the difference between greed and need.

I got hit by a whale. Sank my boat. The whale started a gofundme account and got 20 tons of sardines.

Just as complete armchair sailor, so you may disregard, Why are they heading out at all with a 40% chance of a tropical depression and their skill level. Methinks they did learn nothing.

The "need" was for wreck removal. The 36ft boat was generosity from a kind soul.

Does the overwhelming majority of millennium prescribe to wants as needs?
I’m pretty sure Webster’s Dictionary defines them differently.
I’m not referring to the urban dicktionary...

Are they actually heading towards the Caribbean? Originally their plan was to sail to Key West and get jobs. Two years later after they saved up they were going to head out. It's possible that they are just continuing down to Key West.

They are headed out because the 5 people did not want to pay $80 a-day for the marina they were staying at.

Re: Couple who sank off FL got a new boat

It looks like their destination is near Orlando to do bottom work. The storm now has a 90% chance of forming. Although it is slotted to hit Mobile the west coast of Florida is going to get pummeled. They are best off forking over the $80 a night for their slip..maybe they can start a GoFundMe to cover the cost
