3 crew killed..
A bad day for French rescue services..
They were headed out to assist a boat in distress but were capsized in the heavy seas..
Nasty bit of coastline there with shallows going out a ways.
Condolences to the families of brave men..

Very, very sad. Hats off to those who come out in any conditions to help others.

i noticed it last friday as a disturbance however we didn't get launched till tuesday evening on the high tide,so only option was to bash up to falmouth that evening into 25 knots, and put the boat on a mooring.
it was a good test for the new cutlass bearing, and nut that had to be welded on on the propshaft to hold the propellor in place.
otherwise it would have been 2 weeks before the yard could replace the shaft and relaunch the boat due to neap tides and other issues

“Three dead and one missing as Storm Miguel strikes western France’
A lifeboat, from the French rescue organisation Société nationale de sauvetage en mer (SNSM), had been going to the aid of fishing boat, which got into difficulty in strong winds and rough seas, off the beach of Tanchet aux Sables-d'Olonne. The boat from the SNSM capsized 800 metres from the coast, with seven people on board. Three of them died while four managed to swim to shore. It is not known how many people were on board the fishing boat, but the owner of the boat has been given up for dead.

My condolences to those families and friends and coworkers in the Societé Nationale de Sauvetage en Mer
such a storm: the winds have been roaring though Paris (a good ways inland!) since yesterday...
