Hi all. My wife and I sail our Pearson 34cb out of DVL. Thats Deltaville Virginia for the stupid oval sticker (SOS) lovers out there. We/ also have a Tartan 34c “ on the Hard in our yard “ at the Best land locked marina in the state. Been working on her 3 years now. The tartan that is... the wife and I have been at it 25 years and only realized about 5 years ago that we love Sailing and being on the water with each other. Have chartered once in the Caribbean Was planning again.. covid changed that to next year hopefully.

As self employed contractor we are Hoping to do some Gap cruising time off and explore more of our incredible Chesapeake Bay before making some outside jumps north and south.

Thinking that one of these great 34’ sloops ( oh I also have a Fixer upper Camper & Nicholson 34 from 1984 at the Afton Mountain marina ) may get left somewhere as a boat air b&b destination for friends and who knows may just sell them all and get a longisher wide monohull.

Thanks for this site and the wealth of info and knowledge being shared. Everything we read here is true just like The internet right? Ask 3 sailors the same question and you will get how many opinions I forget?

Keep the Salty Dawgs in mind if you make the trip to the Caribbean. Rallies annually from Hampton in November.

You in a good spot for some nice day sail cruises. (destinations you can reach in a day)

You can sail across the bay NE to Onancock and anchor near the wharf. Creek is about 8' for the entire 5 miles in. Or anchor near the entrance by Parker's March just to the North.

Then there's Occahanock Creek straight across the bay or Kiptopeke to the SE.

I've sailed to all of them, but it's a but further from Va Beach.

One of the best times is in the Fall or when the temp comes down a bit. Mid to lower 90's does get a bit uncomfortable especially if the wind drops off
