Interesting that only one female (Ann) has posted on this thread at this point. Could it be that females don’t feel secure putting their true selves out there?

For me, I need to keep things under the radar and I have different personnas for different websites (makes for a few pages of usernames and passwords - but what the heck!).

They’d never do that. It would cut the number of posts too far down .

You “need” to be under the radar? Sounds suspicious.

Kinda reminds me when I travelled literally to the end of the paved highway on Vancouver Island. I stopped for gas and got chatting to the young attendant. Eventually, he glances around, then sidles up to me, and in a hushed but rather intense whisper says:

“You know … there are a lot of people around here who don’t want to be found.”

Needless to say we got outta there rather fast .

Most of the women here use screen names, and, honestly, I think that's discreet. The reason I stuck with my real name, slightly modified, is that I came here, primarily as a cruiser who wanted to share experience, at a time when I was of an age where I could hope for respect, and was not worried about sexual harassment.

I could never answer for the reasons of the other women CF members: each will have her own.

I agree with Mike and Steady that it is so easy to hide behind screen names that people who use their real names are probably more careful about how they express themselves.
