Does this sound realistic and is it affordable? I haven't checked into pricing for a rental yet.
Thanks,

Most charter outfits want you off their dock asap. They seldom have enough dockspace for all their boats so coming back to their dock every night is out of the question. Dockage every night would run about $2 a foot minimum. Bitter End in BVI used to have a few small Freedoms you could charter and use as a hotel room and take day-sailing, the slip is included with the price and sailing in the sound there is quite enjoyable.

However I think your best bet is a small trailer sailer and Lake Fanshaw in London. Or maybe they have a small sailing club there where you could share a boat.

Aloha and welcome aboard!
Good to have you here on the forum. You've gotten a lot of great recommendations. I'll recommend that you not come to Hawaii to find what you're looking for. Not that we don't want your company its just that those kind of services are not offered here. The state government doesn't seem to like sailors so does not approve those kind of businesses.
kind regards,
