Re: What Would You Do W/ $700K
Multiple times while gaming this with my Very Significant Other, we quickly came to the conclusion we manifested everything we need right here right now. So...
...we decided to open a mini-lender co-op.
We are lending small loans to local folks for just about any purpose. All we require from our borrowers is a few reviews of their business plans by successful business owners.
The way we see it, keeping our investments local adds vitality and a rich depth to our community.
[speaking as though it is done]

Re: What Would You Do W/ $700K
Article in the news today.
If you retire on a Million dollars, you will run out of money in 11 years if you retire in Hawaii, and 25 yrs in Mississippi, the most and least expensive states, and based on average costs of a Retiree.
My assumption is there is no earning on investments in that nor is there any inflation.

I would talk to a Fisher Investments representative and put at least $500,000 in the market

I bet you're a lot of fun at parties.
PS:
Imagine if somebody gave me 700 kases of beer.
Imagine if somebody gave me a 1965 Chevy Corvette with a 700khp engine.
Imagine if somebody gave me a 700kpsi tank of helium. And no, I would never encourage the neighbor kids to 'Donald Duck' talk. Except on their birthdays. And Saturday afternoons.
No, but seriously. Imagine somebody giving me a 700k helium Corvette. Now, that, my friends, has possibilities.

Re: What Would You Do W/ $700K
This site uses Shark Tank as their referee. I watched the ad but realise now that if it sounds too good to be true then it usually is. I entered information onto the site but then stopped and didn't submit it. Instead I contacted Channel 10 about the Shark Tank episode so I could watch it...a resounding 'it is a scam and there is no such Shark Tank episode'.
Although I hadn't actually submitted my information, it was taken anyway and I received phone calls from all over the world at all times of the day and in the middle of the night for nearly 12 months...hopefully they have got the message now as I haven't had a call for a couple of months.
You may be smart enough to treat it as a joke but there are people out there who may not and I wouldn't wish this scam, or any other scam, on anyone.
I am actually good fun at parties but I am also intelligent and learn from my mistakes. Just trying to provide a service for others to hopefully prevent them from being scammed.
I first saw the ad on Facebook and after realising it was a scam, reported it to Facebook. I haven't seen it since but it was too late for me unfortunately. I very rarely do anything like this but I did not like being scammed. I was lucky enough not to provide any financial details, but absolutely detested the persistent phone calls.

Hold on- some scams are fun. I really enjoyed that IRS scam where the guy with the bad English told me that if I didn't pay immediately with gift cards the police would be at my door and all he could do then would be to "wish you a good luck". It felt REALLY good to shout into the phone: "Hey IRS, go **** yourself!". Oh sure, it wasn't REALLY the IRS, but it still felt good. See?
Now then, Dianne-Mal, exactly what was this scam all about? What "ad" did you click on? See- You stormed into a room full of people sharing dreams of boats. Should we stop dreaming of boats? If that's the cure, then I don't like this scam as much as that other one I mentioned earlier.

Buy a 53ft Oyster and see the world.... priceless, and recover nearly 100% of your investment when the journey is complete. This year alone, we’ll visit Maine, Nova Scotia, Newfoundland, Azores, Portugal, Gibraltar, Spain, Balearics, Sardinia, Italy, Montenegro and Croatia. Next year... Greece, Turkey, Italy, Croatia Montenegro, Egypt and maybe the Caribbean.
Try to beat that with a 401k, multi-family or indexed fund.

A travel schedule like that sounds just about like that of a hillbilly fence builder's.....Too hectic to enjoy, and I'm only hitting a few countries and a dozen states this year.

Yes, I noticed that as well. $389K was the last price, if memory serves. $495/unit. I do have a little bit of additional information that is relevant, with regard to the owner and why they want to sell. It seems like a legitimate deal. Dad and I discussed it at length tonight, and I think we'll look a little deeper into it. Might be something that would help get us on a boat more months of the year, and that would be a good ROI.

That seems so cheap... some odd floor plans but hey...
I wonder what it was used for.. given that it has a communal room..

Seriously now, what "site" are you referring to here?
The web site hosting the forum software we are using for this discussion, has afaik, nothing to do with the program Shark Tank on television.
Which I have never seen, don't have "a TV", feels like I'm talking about 8-track music or a dial telephone when I write that.
So people here are very confused about calling this hypothetical conversation a scam, if that is even what you mean.
It's just idle chatter, no one is asking anyone to do anything but "imagine", like a thought experiment.
