Sooooo Close!
Hello!
My wife and I have been reading this forum for what seems like forever now. It gives me great pleasure to announce that after many years of saving and a long time planning, we are finally (almost) ready to set sail with our young son... into an azure horizon and untold adventures. We've given notice on the house... and I've now quit my job.
We have one last (longish) trip planned back tot he US to let the grandparents spend some time with the boy.... and then we're off to QLD to buy our boat and get moving! 3 months from now we'll be on our boat.

Sooooo jealous! Good luck, and keep us informed - we want to know the day you buy your boat, the day you start spending money on it, and the day you stop spending money on it. With full instructions on how the hell you managed to pull off the latter!

Yes, congratulations and welcome to the forum. The toughest thing to do now may to be to slow down and take your time during the process of selecting and purchasing your boat - it could save a ton of time, effort and money in the future. But no worries mate, you will find the right boat.
Cheers!
Brad

Re: Sooooo Close!
Thanks for the welcome and advice.
I have been looking a long time for a boat and have it narrowed down to a few that I think would be ideal for us... but it would be helpful to chat about it here.
Which is the best forum on CF to run these boat choices by some more experienced cruisers?

First welcome, one Aussie to another.
Depends, on what you are looking at, I have been running boats up the proverbial CF flagpole for years!
General advice, either in Mono or Multi section.
More specific advice on Systems etc under the relevant section.
Don't be afraid to ask a local member to see if they can cast an eye over it, might save you hundreds or thousands in travel costs to look at something that may have some less than flattering characteristics.
Btw. Jealous
Good luck.

Well done Cobber. I have the boat and the dream but as yet have not plucked up the courage to break the golden handcuffs! Tight sails! Cheers Reid
