Sneaking back in
Hey All, I'm back from a long time spent on land with very little time spent on a boat... since I disappeared from sight ten years ago, I have been withering away in a 3 bed semi. It wasn't bad until lockdown, cos we got to travel twice a year to her till then, but since then prices of flights have doubled and the other half lost interest anyway...
So BAM - here I am now, given a choice between the other half and the boat, I have finally broken away and chosen the boat! Yes! Although he did get her in the divorce settlement, I'm buying her back! And now I've got to go and do a maintenance trip (she's lying in Phuket) all by myself without a burly skipper to fix the engine when it breaks... oh my. Yes, I'm a little wary of that one, so I'll be around begging for help and advice!

Welcome back SS! Made the right choice there, and I suspect that there will be a number of brawny types to help out when you need it. Always some fellow cruisers in Phuket.

Welcome back,
and all success to you, Kate. What kind of engine is it and what plans have you for it.
A long time ago, my former husband and I coached a friend's brother through his first engine rebuild. It was fun. Boy did it do his confidence good, too!
And, after you've seen it, tell us about your boat, too.
All the best,
Ann

back SS.
Just don't tell the engine know that the burly one is not around and you will be fine.

Re: Sneaking back in
Certainly worse places in the world to have to go fix your boat than Phuket... I never found burly to be the better descriptor for engine work - small and wiry seem more in line...

Welcome back!! You made the right choice. You can get help fixing an engine, but a relationship...
And, yes, I can't wait to hear how the boat made out. They hate being left alone!

I do not know you, but welcome back! "Withering away in a three-bed semi"... Phuket will be a lot more interesting, I think.
Welcome back.

It's a yanmar... I'd have to look uk the model but it's got an inline generator and is pretty new so should not need too much attention!
