Skookum built by Ed Monk

Hello all,
My first time on here and I was hoping I might get some needed help.
I have a 34 foot skookum, built in 1970, by Ed Monk, and what an awsome boat.
The coast guard won't let me document it, till I get a certificate of build.
Any names or phone numbers would be much apprieciated.

Re: Skookum built by Ed Monk

The boat was designed by Ed Monk but probably not built by him. Skookum was a Port Townsend boat builder that built a number of heavy displacement ketches originally intended as sail assisted commercial fishing boats. Believe they were inspired by the fuel crisises in the '70s and closed shop sometime after the '80s. I tried googling both Ed Monk and Skookum without much success other than listings of monk designed boats of which there were legion and boats built by Skookum Marine Construction et al.

There was an Ed Monk sr and jr, Seem to recall one of them dieing recently. The Monk Name is legendary amongst boating circles in the PNW. If both of them are dead, can't believe someone is not at least still carrying on selling their designs.

Aloha and welcome aboard!
I tried doing what you are doing with the documentation a few years ago. Should have been easy but I finally gave up on frustration.
kind regards,

Have you tried running the HIN through the USCG? Perhaps there is a former documentation on the vessel.
