Signing on from a Farr

Hi all,
Recently purchased a Farr 56 pilothouse down here in Australia, needs a bit of work but we’ll get there. Hoping that the wife and I with a 2 and 6 year old can move aboard soon.

Currently the boat is in the yard in a few pieces. Which brings me to the question does any know where i can get a replacement hub for our 24v lewmar 200 vertically retractable thruster?!? Lewmar have said they can remake for AU$10000! So its a longshot but just maybe someone has one….
Alternatively it will be a maxpower vip150 install unless anyone can shed any light on other options…

Anyway, good to be here.
Paul

Welcome.

I would suggest updating your profile with your general location and your boat make & model or “Looking” in the "Boat" category. This info shows up under your UserName in every post in the web view. Many questions are boat and/or location dependent and having these tidbits under your UserName saves answering those questions repeatedly. If you need help setting up your profile then click on this link: https://www.cruisersforum.com/forums...ml#post3308797

I would happily help more if the link above is not enough.

Hi Paul, welcome! Congrats on the new boat. That one looked pretty well set up for cruising, I'm a big fan of the hard dodger. From the photos, it looks like whoever did it did a really nice job. What do you mean by the bowthruster hub? Are you talking about the entire lower gearbox casing? I wonder if it would be cheaper to have a machine shop cnc something for you.

Re: Signing on from a Farr

Hi all,
Yes the hub/gearbox in the tunnel. The current status is now we may bin the vertical thruster and put a tunnel type in. Less moving parts, more options for replacement etc. looking at the lewmar 250tt and the maxpower CT165…Mainly due to availability locally here in Australia. Max power is supposed to be maintenance free with its composite gearbox body under the water, not sure I can believe that but happy to hear if anyone had bad experiences with there two units?
