Re: Sailors to Cruisers

It is a false division. A sailor who cruises is a cruiser and a cruiser in a sailing boat is a sailor. No?

Whatever makes you happy though.

Your vibe issue, is it something new, or has it always been there?

No....a cruiser in a sailing boat can often just be a "liveaboard"

Sailors to Cruisers

I guess I should have titled the thread, "From Learning To Sail To Becoming Cruisers"? Oh well, sorry I inadvertently claimed to be a sailor.

The vibration didn't show up on the sea trial. But as soon as we dropped Wrinkles in the water after some refitting we developed a fairly strong vibration. At first I thought I screwed up something when I installed the new cutlass bearing and dripless, but there wasn't any binding evident when I rotated the shaft by hand. I double checked the coupling alignment which was also good. My next thought was one one injector not firing properly, but that didn't pan out either. Checked the shaft during rotation (when the vibration wasn't showing up) and it looked good. The vibration didn't appear nearly as much in reverse, so we turned to the prop. Removed it and sent it in to a reputable prop shop. All three blades were set differently. No signs of damage of any kind. They adjusted the prop and we have been happily motoring ever since.
