Getting my Shipman 28, from 1976, on Sunday 4th Aug.
Looking forward to getting her ready for some cruising.
Any suggestion for good Cruising guides for the English Channel, I will be heading from Copenhagen to Mallorca at a "convenient" time (read: I have no idea). So any advice or book recommendations for this route would be welcomed
The English Channel starts at the Thames Estuary... stick to the UK side and hop along the coast... marina's along the way are...
Dover, Eastbourne, Brighton, Worthing, The Solent (loads), Poole, Weymouth.
From here its a nice run across to Cherbourg and the Channel Islands should you wish to visit (well worth it)
The choice then is back across to Salcombe, Plymouth and Falmouth or.. run down the French coast with stops on the way if you wish till you hang a left at Ushant and cut through into the Biscay.
Be warned... the French side W of the Islands are rocky with fast running tides and drying harbours so your timing is going to be critical...
Allard Cole Pilot books are pretty good
