Reformed Power Boaters Hooked on Sailing
Hello from the northern gulf coast of Navarre, Florida!
My wife and I both grew up around power boats our whole lives. Our last on was a 38' Owens Aruba.
My thinking has always been that that boat was loud, slow and expensive to run (fuel especially). Why not get a peaceful sailboat, no engine noise, and minimal fuel costs.
Been here a few months before finally getting lessons for my wife and me. We then joined a club that allows us unlimited use of their fleet of Catalina 22's and a 25'.
Even though we just got certified in November, we try to get out at least once a week to build our skills.
Next will be the Coastal Cruising and Barefoot Course then we hope to buy our first sailboat next summer (33-35').
I am getting very inspired reading all the posts here about folks traveling long distances on their boats.
Hope we stay as enthused as we are now.

We just joined the CF today and even though we are new ourselves--Welcome aboard and hope you like this site as much as Kim and I. Seems we have a lot in common--we have been down your way often in our power boat but not yet by sail---a sail over to Destin is in our future soon as we build our Gulf sailing experience.
