pirate Permission To Board

Hey there!
Husband & I bought our first boat recently (Clipper Marine 30, 1970s trailer-able sailboat). Keeping her up at Kerr Lake near the NC/VA border where we can drive up from North Durham to fix...I mean...SAIL her frequently.
Learning as we go, got some time under our belts, completed 101, scheduling 103/104, getting some blue water time in whenever possible on weekends. Slowly replacing everything not done in the previous refit (and RE-replacing some that was...sigh)
Long-term plan is to upgrade to something larger in a few years & live aboard, eventually someplace South TBD later.
Always happy to meet some local-ish sailors for fun/drinking/learning as we go! Share stories, advice and experiences, and maybe a weekend rental or two!
We've hit some snags, but even the BAD days have been awesome!
Looking forward to new adventures!
Mo

Re: PERMISSION TO BOARD

Welcome! I'm an infrequent poster, but a daily reader of this forum! We are right up the road from you in Oxford and learned to sail on Kerr Lake! (Currently sail a Catalina 380 out of Oriental.) What an adventure you're in for!

Re: PERMISSION TO BOARD

The squirrelly winds on Kerr are definitely keeping us on our toes, and when we learn to effectively do something other than tack or jibe back and forth, we look forward to making the trek to Clarksville...
We spend some time in New Bern, haven't made it to Oriental yet, but it's definitely on the list! Looking forward to riding the bikes out there when the weather is ready to cooperate!
And thanks for the warm welcome!
Mo Stone

Re: Permission To Board

Hello Mo, and welcome.

If you're ready for the 103 & 104, my instructor has proposed the w/e's of 2/8-2/9, and 2/22-2/23 for 103 & 104, respectively. I'll be in those if he gets them filled, and sailing as much as possible between them. Y'all come on down.

Send me a PM for details, if you like...
