Oregon Native living in Los Angeles

Happy Saturday All,

I posted a few days ago in the monohull forum about an Amel Super Maramu but haven't really said "hello"...

Hello!

I'm a 40 yo originally from Portland Oregon. I grew up sailing at camp up in the San Juan Islands in Washington state, and then became hooked on the idea of bluewater cruising when my family (and two others) chartered a yacht in Greece the summer after I graduated from high school.

Fast forward to a few years later, I moved to San Francisco with my now x-wife and I immediately signed up for sailing classes with Club Nautique. I went through their entire program and also joined in on racing various fleets in SF Bay.

My girlfriend and I moved down here to LA just over two years ago. Up until 2014, I had been taking sailing classes and saving money to buy a boat...then while still living in San Francisco I took an acting class.

Since then I've been obsessed with acting which brought us here to LA. As of now, I have my sights set on getting an Amel Super Maramu (or an Amel 64 if I win the lottery).

My main interest in sailing comes from my romanticized ideas of adventure, travel, and discovery which I've had from a very young age. There is no better way to travel than arriving in a foreign land than by boat.

Cheers!

Welcome aboard CF, Oregon Coaster. Don't know if you want to be paid for acting, but if you like little theater, there's heaps of it around, even for cruising yachties.

A.
