OK, why not.

I'm home sick, nothing much to do, so I'll sign up for this forum and see what happens. I see Melissa K is here, so it might turn out all right.

I usually just hang out on the Cruising World forum, where some of you may recognize me as the guy who does Photo Day, and a couple of other special interest boards.

My first impression is that there are just too many forums here. I will just hang on the general topics one for the most part, me thinks, even though I may very well miss some great threads on whether one should carry firearms aboard.

Hey Sailor, New in town? Of all the sailing bulletin boards in all the world you had to wander into this one. Haven't I seen you somewhere before? This is a fine kettle of fish you've gotten us both into.

Clichés aside its nice to see you here Dave.

What the heck is a "junior cruiser"?

At first I thought it was a bunch of kids, but I guess it must be somebody who hasn't posted much here, eh?

Hey Jeff, I was looking at the photos of your boat, and I can't believe the size of your mast. Even though it's keel stepped, that thing is HUGE! What's the air draft?

Good to see a few familiar names here, like you and Melissa. And I like all these little emoticons. Kewl.

pirate Hi Dave

Nice to have you onboard

Take a look at this thread to see why you're just a "Junior cruiser". When you have posted 25 messages or photos you're upgraded to Cruiser. Like it or not, but it's part of the game here. After 20 days and 100 postings you can choose your own title - may be motivating for some.

You may wonder how to get more stars. Check this link and you'll know.

You can of course choose to stay on only one of the forums, but you will miss most of the activity. That may be OK when we have 1000 active members. If you press View new posts you'll get a list of the new entries, just like you're used to ...

Only kids? Well, if you ask me I guess the average age is 40.

OK, have to run now. Fair winds. C U

Photo Day is a thread I started back in 1999...

on the Cruising World bulletin board. To be honest, boat mainenance threads usually bore me, and many BB topics are rehashed over and over again, so to break the monotony I started the Wednesday photo day. It's nothing more than one day set aside to show off photographs of "you, your boat, your dog on your boat, or topless polynesian girls paddling dugout canoes".

Well, after several nudes were posted and some of the more uptight folks over there complained, I modified the last part of the so called rules to read "you, your boat, your dog on your boat, almost topless Polynesian women wearing coconut bras and paddling dugout canoes, whatever. No nudity (email those directly to me). "

Talking Don't worry about uptight folks here ...

... as long as the material is legal.

We can always make a private forum for material "on the edge", but we need to stay legal. Everyone understands that. Plain nudity is definately not "on the edge" anyway. It's mother nature, and from my point of view, it's mostly beautiful.

Do you have many shots of "topless polynesian girls paddling dugout canoes"? It's definately cruising related

Nobody can go cruising the south seas if they can't manage watching nude people.

Looking forward to seeing more of your photographic art, Dave.

Cheers!

Sure, I saved them.

They were all done in good taste. But since they're not mine, it wouldn't be right for me to post them. Perhaps the women in the photos aren't even aware that these pics were posted, and what would happen if some of the women here were the nudes?

I still found it amusing about the complaints about the nudity, all from men yet! I swear, some of these guys are so prudish that they must take showers with their clothes on.

Sort of changing the subject from the 'naked women in dugout thread' but I have always figured my air draft is roughly 60 feet to the top of the wind instrument and VHF whip. It could be a few feet less.

Password protected category

I made a password protected category in the photo gallery tonight, but took it away again since the protected images popped up as blanks in the "random images" and "recent posts" tables.

So to summarize:
Post anything you like as long as it's legal and YOU believe that the members and visitors of the site might find it interesting.

Confused?

Don't worry. This board is for open minded people.
