It will cost more than the restored
boat will be worth, by far. Financially, you are better off
buying a new or new-to-you but decently maintained
boat near your home.
However if you have any great sentimental attachment to the boat, then the cost is moot, and as others have said,
DIY will save you a bundle of bucks, if you can spare the time.
A lot depends on the
core material, if it is not solid
fiberglass. If the
deck is balsa
core, I would be surprised if it is still sound. If the
hull is
fiberglass over
plywood, it is likely a goner.Such
boats don't do well when left out in the elements for decades. If it is all fiberglass then maybe sand and refresh the gel coat and bobs yer uncle, for
hull and
deck.
