Newbie Living in SF Bay Area

I’ve returned (third time living here) to the SF Bay Area and have lived in Marin for ~5 yrs this go-round. I’m retired and have been spending a bit of time on boats: (1) dumb crew on 38’ sailboat and, (2) lived on a 45’ MY for a week as a test. I’ve decided I want to live aboard a MY (50’ +/-) and am actively searching, as well as working with a Yacht broker. I plan to take lessons to get certified to drive the boat. I expect to cruise in the Bay & Delta only, at least in the near future.

I would appreciate any advice about living aboard and, especially, how to find a live aboard slip in Marin County. Thx in advance for any help.

Re: Newbie Living in SF Bay Area

Welcome, CorgiCruzr. It's quite hard to find a liveaboard spot in the Bay area but not impossible. That said, it might be harder if you have dogs and a derelict boat; easier if you can prove you plan to be transient and have a good running vessel. All the best to you!

Another suggestion....I was reading Latitude 38's May edition and noticed a lot of marina ads for boat slips including one in Redwood City. None talks about liveaboards or is in Marin, but that might be something to start with.
