Greetings to all!
Excited to join this chat board and read about all the adventures, words of wisdom and just general experiences from all that take the time to post on this forum.
I'm new to sailing and kind of new to
boats in general. I've been on a
hobie cat a few times when i was younger sailing it across our local lakes with a neighbor. I've been on deep sea
fishing boats out of NC coast about 5-6 times, but that's about it if you take canoes and white
water rafts out of the equation.
In general i'm an adventure enthusiast who has traveled all over the US in my toyota land cruiser. I've spent a months here and there living out in the deserts, mountains and forests relying on my
solar panels and
provisioning. It's been some of the greatest times of my life.
Now i'm wanting to open a new chapter of life and start the ultimate adventure which i believe will be sailing. I've got my GF talked into it and so we are just now educating ourselves on boats and sailing in general. We are going to try to see if we can get on a
charter at the
BVI this
winter and experience living on a cat for a week. i think that will help get me and the GF 100% committed.
Right now the only thing that has me worried is motion sickness. I think i can get past that and know my limits but to be honest that is really my only fear. I can just imagine now getting out in a
boat and being sick for two days
Anyways, hope to add to the community and look forward to seeing where this goes.
Alex
