New to the site

Howdy, new guy here. Fairly new to sailing, as well. I started out sailing with a pal on a Hobiecat 16 and that captured my interest. I then took a sailing class through a local university and sailed their dinghies for a few years until the program was shut down. So, I bought a Hobie Wave. My introduction to keelboats was crewing for Wednesday evening Beer Can racing (total keelboat newb at the time). Since then I've crewed and skippered on a keelboat just shy of 200 times. Cheers.

Re: New to the site

I'm fairly new to this site but I'm here to welcome you first [EDIT: Gord's usually the first to welcome people!]

This place is extremely helpful, if you can weather the occasional multiple opinions coming at you, and the old salts have a wealth of knowledge! You've come to the right place!

All the best

Re: New to the site

Welcome Rewster - always glad to meet a new face.

Sailing that often in SF Bay adds a lot of "cred" to your CV!

Re: New to the site

Welcome.

I would suggest updating your profile with your general location and your boat make & model or “Looking” in the "Boat" category. This info shows up under your UserName in every post in the web view. Many questions are boat and/or location dependent and having these tidbits under your UserName saves answering those questions repeatedly. If you need help setting up your profile then click on this link: https://www.cruisersforum.com/forums...ml#post3308797

If you need further help let me know, I would be happy to.

Re: New to the site

Thanks for kind welcoming, y'alls. @Adelie, thank you for the suggestions; my general location is shown and boat is indicated as TBD (to be determined). Is this what you have/had in mind?

I sail two or three times/week with a friend on his keelboat but will at some point in time acquire a capable pocket cruiser; I'll be asking advice about that on a later date here on the forum.
