New to the Forum

Evening all,

Just a brief posting to say hello, and say how impressed I am with the community, having skulked around the forums for a while now.

There seems to be an awful lot of knowledgeable people, who are more than keen to help, in a non-showy way. Very much my (limited) experience of the sailing community in the North East of the UK.

Anyway, here’s to enjoying the ebb and flow of the site.

All the best,

Damien

Welcome aboard, Damien, from the west coast of Canada. You say "limited experience" ... do you have your own boat? I lived in Manchester for a few years as a kid ... a rose of a different colour.

Re: New to the Forum

Welcome.

I would suggest updating your profile with your general location and your boat make & model or “Looking” in the "Boat" category. This info shows up under your UserName in every post in the web view. Many questions are boat and/or location dependent and having these tidbits under your UserName saves answering those questions repeatedly. If you need help setting up your profile then click on this link: https://www.cruisersforum.com/forums...ml#post3308797

I would happily help more if the link above is not enough.

Re: New to the Forum

Thanks desodave,

No boat yet, but planning to buy in the next couple of years, for a busy early retirement.

Manchester is great, if a bit wet, but not a patch on BC. I’m a frequent visitor, to Vancouver, and Whistler, as well as sometimes getting across the border to AB, Banff in particular.

Love the people as much as the snow.

And you clearly know your history, as well as your regional sectarianism ! That did make me laugh.

All the best,

Damien

Thanks Adelie,

All done (I think !). Really appreciate the pointers.

And thanks to SeanPatrick and GordMay as well.
