Matg, the usual
advice for a
newcomer is keep the
water on the outside, the
mast pointing up, the
keel pointing down and don’t hit anything that’s harder than
water. I vaguely remember starting to sail when I was in my early twenties. I started on a much smaller boat but plenty of people have started like you on a cruising size boat. Stay humble, admit what you don’t know. Stay curious, learn from what you encounter. Stay confident, you will master this with time and experience. Stay
safety conscious, always keep your crew’s and your own
safety as top priorities. Enjoy the adventure you have set out upon.
