New to Sailing

Hello all!

We are as about as newbies as you can get in Sailing. We have not purchased a Sailing Catamaran yet but have started looking and tapping on the calculator. We joined this site so we could absorb as much information as we could to make an informed decision on our first boat. It is our intentions to liveaboard at some point with no specific plans.

Welcome, but learn to sail and navigate properly before you buy a boat...In 10 years cruising we have seen over a dozen boats on reefs! Crossing the Pacific the loss rate is over 1%/year mostly from believing the chartplotter!

This may sound like a dumb comment, but it took me a while to figure it out so I'm sharing. (Yeah, I'm slow sometimes.)

Sailing and living aboard (and long distance cruising) are compatible but different activities. Not all sailors live aboard, and not all liveaboards sail.

So, to get to the point, start by getting a variety of experience to figure which aspects of the lifestyle appeal to you before dropping a load of money on something that may or may not work out.
